New Balance Video Premiere
One of the things I miss the most about being a skate shop owner is the perks. A few of the bonuses that I had back in Australia was getting packages from adidas Skateboarding, Converse CONS, Nike SB, Quasi and more. Mainly though, I got stuff from adidas, they were very generous, they even took me to China on a skate trip just because we sold their product.
Thankfully, not long after I got my green card, I randomly popped my head into Overload and asked if they were looking for staff… and they were! Not long after being there I got a New Balance package, I think it was 3 pairs of shoes. It was helpful that I had U.P.S. in my resume because the guys at NB# new us. So one package, then I went to the retailer conference with Overload and saw Andrew Reynolds speak about his new shoe, hold the shoe and try it on - it was very exciting. A couple packages later and then, we got some tickets to go to the premiere of the New Balance ‘Intervals’ video that they’d been working on for years.
It was a pretty exclusive premiere ie: no tickets sold to the general public. It was at some crazy theatre in LA, it looked like the place that Abe Lincoln got shot! I drove up with Angel, Amare and David and we were sitting amongst the who’s who of skateboarding, real A-list skate celebrities, it was sick. Even as a seasoned Australian skate industry guy, the US has MOST of the worlds top pro’s so shit was eye opening!
The video has 3 of the worlds best, Tiago Lemos who is a personal favourite of mine as well Brandon Westgate plus Jamie Foy. The video just came out on Thrasher so it’s linked below, well worth the watch!
