Goat Canyon Trestle
I’ve been getting into hiking recently in my quest to fall in love with San Diego. So far, outside of my friends and family, it’s the best thing about the City.
Adventurer Macca told me about a the Goat Canyon Trestle hike a while ago and one weekend, we decided to lock in a date - which was January 26th - Australia Day or if you’re an Aussie with any sort of conscious - Invasion Day. It’s about a 16 mile hike round trip, 8 miles in and 8 miles out. There’s loads of smaller trestle bridges to cross and tunnels to walk through including a half mile tunnel which was pretty terrifying. The final destination is the largest, wooden trestle bridge in the world. Walking across it felt kinda sketchy but the views were crazy! I got a bunch of good photos and it was good hanging with Adventurer Big Mac because him and his family are moving to Boston later this year.
I took 2 cameras, my Nikon F100 and Yashica Mat 124G, an SLR and twin lens. I had 1 slung over each shoulder, I must’ve looked like rambo but with film cameras. I was super pumped to shoot some film again after doing so much work with my Sony gear. The cameras were both randomly loaded with black and white, so the first half the journey in is all B&W, the rest is Kodak Portra.
