Curation — kind of — gallery

From 2011 till 2014 I owned and operated kind of — gallery. I started it with 3 friends off the back of a fixed gear cycling project called the ‘Joyride’. We worked with Deus Ex Machina and used an old retail space of theirs in the heart of Darlinghurst, Sydney to host our Joyride exhibition opening night.

From the original space the gallery took on many forms in many spaces. We were part of the rejuvenation of Oxford St project by The City Of Sydney. They gave us cheap rental spaces and in return, we injected culture back into a “dead zone” in the City.

I worked with many Australian and international artists and brands across the 4 years. It was huge amount of work for very little money but it was such a great experience and really set me up in Sydney as a known, hard working creative. I wouldn’t change those times for anything.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out through those years - AJ, Josh, Wing, Robin, Claire, Mooshi, Jen, Candice and anyone I’ve forgotten!

Below is a brief history in images of kind of — gallery.
