Creative Direction — U.P.S. x RVCA
U.P.S. x RVCA – A Collaboration Rooted in Sydney’s History
In 2018, U.P.S. Skateshop had the opportunity to collaborate with RVCA, a world-renowned creative brand. For inspiration, we dug into the 1920s Sydney 'Low Life' crime scene—visually, not criminally, to be clear. Keeping everything black and white, we echoed the raw, gritty aesthetic of the era, drawing on its dark, archival imagery to shape the graphics and text.
Two artists and close friends, Sid Tapia and Mike Mieruszynski, helped bring the concept to life. Mike, a key figure in the project and a U.P.S. team rider, played a major role in developing the look and feel.
The collaboration included a full collection apparel — tops, bottoms, and accessories, we produced a video clip, and hosted a launch party with food and drinks. Getting to work on projects like this with friends was one of the highlights of running Australia’s most influential skate shops at the time.
*unfortunately the full clip has been removed from YouTube but the trailer is still up, see below.
